Hi Jon, what do you do at work?
I'm responsible for everything related to data centers at Dell in northern and central Europe, as well as Israel. In practice, this means that my team is responsible for everything within the data center, whether it's servers, networking, or cloud services. It's an incredibly exciting corner of the IT industry to be in because no matter what happens in the world, more data will be created that needs to be stored and generate value.
If we rewind to 2018, what within IT has had a more significant impact on us than we could have imagined back then?
Five years ago, not many people understood just how rapidly hyper-converged infrastructure would gain traction. Back then, we were still talking about infrastructure as something composed of various parts and believed it would remain that way for many years. Additionally, we've seen a significant increase in our investments in the cloud, which we knew would happen but has occurred much faster than we expected.
Alright, looking ahead to 2028, what development do you think will have the most significant impact on us or perhaps surprise us the most?
The realisation that the cloud journey is more complex than initially understood is settling in for more and more people. We will witness the evolution of new multicloud solutions that cater to the unique requirements of individual customers, especially in terms of security. In other words, the transformation will continue, but clouds will become more localized and built with local partners.
Fast-forwarding to 2028, the next major technological shift will indeed be a reality. We will have quantum computers that enable real-time calculations and efficiency on a whole new level compared to today's AI clusters. This will encompass a wide range of applications, including risk analysis, molecular structure optimisation, and logistics algorithms that will lead to improved transportation.
As for what I will discuss at Arrow's event:
I will delve into the ongoing technological shift we are experiencing and what lies ahead, providing examples of the loads that can be accelerated in various industries. Of course, I will also share insights into what organisations can do today to transition from their current platforms to the platforms of the future effectively. Those who are already on the AI bandwagon today will want to leverage quantum computing technology, and even though it's a few years away, it's time to prepare for it.
