With the help of Arrow as AWS’s Well-Architected Partner, some deployments were deeply improved and the AWS best practices were integrated in all Cycloid’s processes.

Cycloid Platform Engineering improves the developer experience and makes accessible DevOps and Hybrid Cloud adoption to a wider audience.

As part of its excellent developer experience, they must ensure they follow every hyperscalers’s best practices at every stage of their services and tools. They needed to achieve the highest degree of quality on all the templates and automation about AWS services that they provide to its customers.

An important challenge for the DevOps business is to maintain a continuous relationship with the customers, where Cycloid can leverage an integrated management for their customers workloads and applications. In this sense, to leverage platforms and services that allow to maintain a whole approach to the onboarding process and to the cost management for the different accounts was mandatory.

Based on the market demand, Cycloid knew that one of the most important pillars for their strategy was to ensure quick wins through all the vendors, but specially for the developers who deploy their solutions on AWS services:

Arrow ECS as an strategic partner for Cycloid long-term plans

Arrow ECS and Cycloid have a strategic relationship. As a result of this, regular contacts take place to understand the Cycloid’s projects and needs, and to provide with solutions to this.

Cycloid had a deep knowledge about the skills and experience that Arrow has with AWS best practices. Arrowsphere cloud management platform runs on AWS services, supporting thousands of customers and hundreds of vendors with a high availability. This success case demonstrated Cycloid that both Arrow’s expertise in AWS services and the Arrowsphere set of end-to-end cloud management services were what Cycloid needed for its goal of improving their AWS approach.

Acquiring the AWS Best-practices

Arrow ECS is a recognized AWS Well-Architected Program Partner. Arrow ECS could guide Cycloid to achieve high expertise and knowledge about the AWS best-practices, through the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

Through a detailed process where a relevant Production workload was chosen, the Arrow’s team of Solutions Architects could lead a Review about the six pillars of the AWS best practices. As a result, some important issues about Operational efficiency, reliability, efficiency, cost optimization, security and sustainability were found. A Remediation detailed plan was delivered by Arrow’s team of experts. With this, Cycloid was able to solve and to improve their processes, templates and tools. This way, Cycloid can now provide with the best experience to their customer’s developers through the best-in-class DevOps tools and services on AWS CI/CD projects.

Onboarding, Governance, FinOps and marketplace, all in one place

On the other hand, Arrow’s Cloud Delivery and Management Platform, Arrowsphere, simplifies the operational complexity of delivering hybrid multicloud solutions while providing the business intelligence channel partners need to drive growth.

Arrow analyzed the Cycloid’s specific needs about the onboarding, security, account management and customer access to the different AWS assets.

Arrow applies the AWS best practices in security and account management. With all this in mind, a dedicated environment was designed, with a whole AWS Organization that could be managed and governed autonomously by Cycloid. All the different accounts could be fast and automatically onboarded through Arrowsphere. Additionally, Cycloid could self-managed the security level for its customers, and pre-define minimal user privilege, ensuring governance but allowing exactly the right amount of flexibility individuals need to do their job.

The Outcome

Having Results you have seen from the partnership?

Thanks to the Well-Architected Reviews, Cycloid has dramatically reduced the number of risks on the production workloads in more than 70% and this improvement trend will increase as they apply the AWS best practices in future templates and deployments.

Thanks to this integration with Arrowsphere, that now ensures Cycloid a fast and automated way of onboarding new AWS accounts and customers, where they can onboard and have the integrated billing in few hours with no need of any new integration or specific task.

Cycloid is achieving as well, both an aggregated and detailed view of their different customers’ assets and usage, Cycloid can focus on their business core, to provide with excellent developers experiences through DevOps services and Tools. As an example, the Arrowsphere dashboard’s shows the aggregated (or splitted by customer or account) monthly spend in real time, as well as providing with expected future consumptions for the rest of the month.

But also, they can provide with an end-to-end governed service for their customer, including a self-service portal, Arrowsphere’s MyCloud Portal, where customers can see and purchase new AWS services.
